Arie Bouman Nursery BV is at the forefront of sustainable horticultural cultivation. Many measures have been taken to reduce dependence on plant protection products. In addition, extensive trials are being conducted with cultivation with peat-reduced cultivation substrates.

Addition of BARA clay provides an improved buffering of both nutrients and water and we see, for example, clear advantages with the combination of BARA clay with organic fertilizers. By mixing in BARA clay, the organic fertilizers remain more available and do not leach out. A good example of this is Arie Bouman’s introduction of BARA clay in the growing substrate, which helps in the transition to more sustainable cultivation.
